M.A.G.S. (Mabank Area Good Samaritans)
Do you feel called to serve the needs of the hungry in our community? “MAGS” stocks, staffs, and coordinates the local food pantry as a cooperative effort among several local churches. FMC volunteers serve the months of March and September to staff the pantry daily from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Monthly meetings are currently held on the first Monday of each month at First MC Mabank from 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Love’s Outreach
Love’s Outreach, organized in April 2010, is a community effort to serve others in need. The volunteers meet the 3rd Saturday of every month at the Cherokee Shores POA Park to serve lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The typical Saturday begins around 8:30 a.m. with the setting up of tables and chairs. Around 9:30 a.m., 4-5 volunteers ride the neighborhood handing out flyers reminding everyone that lunch will be served. Additional tables will be set up to serve the food. Besides lunch, hygiene kits and clothes are available to those who may need them. Bibles are always available for children and adults. On average, we serve more than 125 to 150 meals each month and up to 300 meals on holiday months. If you are looking for a way to serve, this is a great place to start. You can help out by providing desserts, drinks, or other requested food items; serving the meals, drinks, and desserts; helping with the sign-in table, Bible table, flyers, hygiene kits, or clothes — and you receive the joy of “Sharing with our neighbors God’s hope and love."
Men’s Service Group
Join the FMC Men’s Service Group for breakfast before working on small house projects in our community. It’s a great opportunity to build friendships while serving others.
